2. Job Search Q&A: Answer at least 2 questions about your work style, preferences, and what energizes you in your career

Understanding Recommendations

Recommendations are updated in real-time based on your profile. Each job shows:

• Fit Score: Overall match percentage (0-100%)
• Fit Breakdown: Preference match, work style match, and context match scores
• Top Contributors: What factors make this job a good match (e.g., "Q&A Context", "Role Match", "Management Style")
• Job Details: Company, location, salary range, employment type, and direct application link

Fit Scores Explained

Each recommendation includes three match components:

• Preference Match: How well the job matches your target titles, locations, salary, and industries
• Work Style Match: Alignment with your work style preferences (management style, structure, travel, schedule)
• Context Match: How well the job description matches your profile, skills, and Q&A answers

These scores are combined to create an overall fit rating. Higher scores indicate better matches.

How does the profile system work?

Each user has one master profile that accumulates ALL your data from resume uploads and questionnaire answers. This hidden profile is your data warehouse. When you upload resumes or answer questions, everything merges into your profile with smart deduplication. You can then generate multiple tailored resumes from this rich profile data.

Can I upload multiple resumes?

Yes! Each resume you upload is parsed and merged into your master profile. Duplicate experiences are automatically detected and merged intelligently. Your resume library shows all uploaded and generated resumes.

What file formats are supported?

We support PDF, DOC, and DOCX files up to 10 MB. Note: Password-protected or heavily scanned PDFs may fail to parse. Use a clean, text-based PDF for best results.

How is my resume scored?

Our AI analyzes six key dimensions: structure (formatting and organization), achievements (impact and metrics), readability (clarity and conciseness), role alignment (fit for target job), technical skill relevance, and ATS optimization. You get an overall score plus detailed subscores and specific improvement suggestions.

Do I need to answer all the questions?

No! The Inspire, Intention, and Practical sections are completely optional. You can skip questions, complete them partially, or come back later. They're designed to help you reflect deeply and build a comprehensive profile, but you can always upload a resume and score it immediately if you prefer.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your resumes and profile data are treated as PII (personally identifiable information) and are never shared. All data is stored securely and only you have access to your profile and resumes.

How do job recommendations work?

After you complete your job search preferences and answer Q&A questions, our AI analyzes thousands of active job listings and matches them to your profile. Recommendations are ranked by fit score, which considers your preferences, work style, and profile context. Recommendations are updated in real-time and cached for fast loading.

Why am I not seeing any recommendations?

To receive recommendations, you need to complete your job search profile: set target job titles or roles, preferred locations, and answer at least 2 job search Q&A questions. Check the Rec page for a detailed breakdown of what's missing.

What are fit scores and how are they calculated?

Fit scores combine three components: Preference Match (how well the job matches your target roles, locations, salary), Work Style Match (alignment with your management style, structure, travel preferences), and Context Match (how well the job description matches your skills and Q&A answers). Each component is scored 0-1 and combined into an overall fit rating.

Can I filter recommendations by ATS platform?

Currently, recommendations show jobs from all supported ATS platforms (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday) mixed together. Each job card displays the ATS platform icon so you can identify the source. Filtering by platform may be available in future updates.

How often are recommendations updated?

Recommendations are computed in the background when you visit the Rec page. If you update your job search preferences or Q&A answers, recommendations are automatically refreshed. The system caches recommendations for performance, but they're updated whenever your profile changes.
